Empowering Women in Property: Celebrating International Women’s Day 2025:

As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 (this Saturday 8th March), it’s the perfect time to reflect on the role of women in property ownership and investment. Breaking Barriers: Women in Property Ownership

Property ownership is a critical pathway to financial independence, yet women have historically faced more challenges in breaking into the market. The latest AU Women and Property Report 2025 by CoreLogic highlights both progress and ongoing disparities. While homeownership rates between men and women are relatively equal, women remain underrepresented in investment property ownership. Many factors contribute to this, including affordability concerns, lower income levels and a lack of confidence in investing.

According to the report:

• 62.7% of women own at least one residential dwelling, compared to 64.4% of men.
• Women are less likely to invest in property, with only 11.4% owning an investment property, compared to 14.2% of men.
• 40% of women reported having no investments at all, compared to 27.8% of men.
• Women earning over $100,000 are far more likely to own property (85.5%) than those earning under $100,000 (58.9%).
• Affordability remains a major barrier, with 41% of women citing rising prices as a key challenge, compared to 37.1% of men.
