A Long Weekend in Ettalong on the Central Coast:

Day 1:

Upon your arrival at your chosen accommodation (such as Mantra Ettalong Beach or one of the many Airbnb properties available in the area), start your long weekend adventure by exploring Ettalong. Whether this is strolling along the waterfront,  exploring the local boutique scene or enjoying Sunset Sips at Box on The Water, there’s plenty of options for everyone. The Box on the Water is arguably in one of the best waterfront spots on the Peninsula and offers both  part daytime beach kiosk cafe and part evening restaurant with smart-casual dining. From local tap beers and refreshing afternoon Aperols, it is a great spot to enjoy a sundowner in style peering across Broken Bay

Be sure to make a reservation for dinner at Osteria il Coccia, a dining experience unlike any other. They showcase the best of the land and the sea, cooked over wood charcoal. Day 2:

After a restful night’s sleep, fuel up with breakfast at Coast 175 Ettalong.  The cafe is airy with beautiful coastal décor. The meals are made from fresh seasonal ingredients from gourmet markets, and you can get a delicious Campos coffee.

After breakfast, stop in at RISE Artisan Bakery located within The Galleria precinct for your lunchtime picnic. With each pastry treat freshly baked in the morning, you’ll feel transported to a European city, and you can even pick up some exceptionally handmade sourdough to enjoy at home.

Next, it’s time to hit the beach! The beach is located where Brisbane Water and Broken Bay meet. With calm, flat, and shallow waters, the beach is renowned for its safe swimming conditions, shielded from the open seas by a protective headland. Take your pick from swimming, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing and boating. Note however that Ettalong Beach is not patrolled by lifeguards. Wanting to surf? We recommend heading to the neighbouring beach at Umina, which is a great place for longboarding or those learning to surf, as the waves tend to be small.

Once you’re all beached out, pick a picturesque picnic spot along the foreshore, you’ll find both barbecue facilities and a children’s playground, and indulge into your RISE Artisan Bakery.

For the afternoon, hire bikes from Ettalong Bike Hire and follow the shared cycling and walking path along the Esplanade or explore the Warrah Trig cycling loop, a 10km loop through Brisbane Water National Park. Pause at Warrah lookout for spectacular views across Broken Bay and the Hawkesbury River.

After a big day of activities, you might find yourself yearning for something delicious for dinner. Saffran Restaurant is an award-winning restaurant that has an elegant ambiance and delectable Mediterranean-inspired menu. From succulent seafood to tantalising vegetarian options, Saffran promises a culinary journey that delights the senses. Our tip is to book a table outside if the temperature allows.

If you’re in the mood for a post-dinner drink, make sure to pay a visit to nearby Bar Toto.

Day 3:

Start your day with breakfast Lords of Pour which offers delicious coffee and an inviting atmosphere to kickstart your day. Those seeking a satisfying brunch experience can indulge in their elegant breakfast roll.

Explore a little more on foot today by taking an easy ten minute stroll up to the Mount Ettalong Lookout. To get to Mount Ettalong Lookout, drive along Mount Ettalong Road toward Pearl Beach. Once you’ve driven past Umina, you’ll start driving up a windy road to the top of a headland. Look for the car park on the left when the road straightens. If you’ve still got energy to spare, take the walking track between Pearl Beach and Patonga, a hidden local gem. This 3km bushwalk is a little more challenging, but the lookout at the end makes it all worthwhile.

After all that walking you’ll no doubt be feeling hungry, and thirsty! Head to The Boathouse Hotel Patonga. A stunning waterside venue featuring the iconic Patonga Hotel and kiosk, as well as holiday rental accommodation. It is more pub-focused than the other Boathouse establishments and has a keen interest for seafood on the menu. There is often live music on the weekends which makes it a great spot to settle into for a few. Be sure to check out their delicious cocktail menu.

Finish your day with a dinner reservation at The Lucky Bee, indulging in their innovative Asian-inspired dishes.

Day 4:

Before heading home, grab a smoothie or coffee from Innerglow Kiosk.
